Scammers impersonating local law enforcement

Scammers faked caller ID to appear as your local police and tried to frighten victims into paying. Typically they demand immediate payment or personal information to avoid arrest. It’s a scam—always hang up and verify independently.

Fake debt collector threats

Callers posed as debt collectors, insisting you owe money and claiming you’ll be arrested unless you pay immediately. These are impostors; know your rights and don’t pay unless you confirm with legitimate sources.

Discount offers requiring gift‑card payment

Robocalls offered discounted phone, TV, or internet services—but only if you paid using a gift card. That’s a common scam tactic. Legitimate companies do not require gift‑card payment.

“Missed jury duty” scam

Scammers call, claiming you’ve missed jury duty and face fines or arrest unless you pay immediately. This is a classic imposter scam—government agencies don’t handle jury duty fines by phone.

Fake tuition unpaid notice

College students and parents received calls from fraudsters claiming tuition was unpaid. They threatened class cancellation unless immediate payment was made. Always confirm bills directly with your school.
